How to Deploy AI Agents for Linear

Bring autonomous issue creation and sprint intelligence into your engineering workspace in three steps.

1

Connect Linear Workspace

Generate your Linear Personal API Key or authorize via OAuth to connect your teams, projects, and active cycles with RhinoAgents.

2

Configure Routing Rules

Map engineering teams, priority levels, workflow states (Backlog, Todo, In Progress, In Review, Done), and custom issue labels.

3

Deploy Autonomous Backlog AI

AI agents capture tickets from Slack, detect duplicate issues, estimate cycle complexity, and provide daily velocity updates.

Advanced AI Issue & Cycle Capabilities

Slack-to-Linear Ticket Synthesizer

Transforms messy customer bug reports in Slack into beautifully structured Linear issues with titles, steps to reproduce, and environment tags.

Semantic Duplicate Issue Detection

Scans existing tickets before creation, flags identical bug reports, and links conversations directly to the original tracking issue.

Autonomous Cycle Grooming & Sizing

Suggests story point estimates based on past team velocity and flags cycle scope creep when new issues are added mid-sprint.

GitHub PR & Branch State Automation

Automatically moves issues from 'In Progress' to 'In Review' when draft PRs are posted, and closes tickets upon merge.

Project Roadmap Health Diagnostics

Monitors milestone completion percentages and alerts engineering leads to blocked dependencies threatening quarterly launch dates.

Morning Engineering Standup Briefings

Delivers a formatted Slack brief highlighting issues closed yesterday, currently active blockers, and high-priority triage items.

Available AI Actions

Linear AI Agent Actions & GraphQL Endpoints

Programmatically create issues, transition workflow states, post comments, and query cycles via Linear's GraphQL API.

Create Issue

Creates new issues with priority, team assignment, estimate points, and markdown description.

Method:POST
Endpoint:/graphql (mutation issueCreate)
Required: teamId, title, description

Update Issue State

Transitions issues across workflow columns (e.g. Backlog, In Progress, In Review, Done) and updates assignees.

Method:POST
Endpoint:/graphql (mutation issueUpdate)
Required: id, stateId

Query Filtered Issues

Queries issues filtered by priority, team, cycle, milestone, or custom search query strings.

Method:POST
Endpoint:/graphql (query issues)
Optional: filter, first

Add Issue Comment

Posts AI technical summaries, pull request linkages, or customer support context onto issue threads.

Method:POST
Endpoint:/graphql (mutation commentCreate)
Required: issueId, body

Query Cycles

Retrieves active, upcoming, and completed cycle schedules, capacity scopes, and burndown data.

Method:POST
Endpoint:/graphql (query cycles)
Optional: teamId

Inspect Workflow States

Discovers all team-specific workflow state UUIDs to ensure accurate issue state transitions.

Method:POST
Endpoint:/graphql (query workflowStates)
Optional: teamId
